Why Physical Therapy?
Physical therapy is appropriate when your movement and functioning are threatened by aging, injury, or disease. Your physical therapist will begin by asking you about your medical history and then give you a physical examination that will result in a diagnosis and treatment plan.
Physical therapy can improve the condition of your knees, shoulders, ankle, wrists, hips, neck, or back.
Cold Laser Therapy
Cold Laser Therapy is a painless, non-invasive, low-intensity laser therapy used to treat painful, inflamed soft tissues and joints. The cold laser penetrates the surface of your skin without heating or damaging your body. Conditions including carpal tunnel syndrome, arthritis, margin.
Ultrasound Therapy
Ultrasound therapy uses high-energy sound waves to help ease painful joints, and is particularly effective as a treatment for soft tissue injuries. Your physical therapist uses the waves produced by the ultrasound machine to treat sore joints, muscle sprains, bursitis, tendonitis, osteoarthritis, myofascial pain, and carpal tunnel syndrome with deep, soothing heat.
Heat and Cold Packs
Depending on your diagnosis, your physical therapist may use heat packs or cold packs as part of your treatment. Cold packs can reduce inflammation around the area of injury, numb the pain, and have an overall analgesic effect.
Heat packs can be used for muscle spasms or for chronic conditions including stiffness and muscle discomfort. The heat opens up the blood vessels and allows blood to flow, which increases circulation to the affected area, delivering an increased supply of oxygen and nutrients and removing toxic material from sore or injured muscles.
Stretching
Stretching may reduce your risk of injury at work or during sports or other physical exertion, and can improve your range of motion. Your physical therapist will teach you stretching exercises that are appropriate for you.
